Boxer Adrien Broner was booked into Fulton County Jail in Atlanta early Tuesday morning on a misdemeanor sexual battery charge.
According to TMZ, police were called to Lenox Square shopping center where a woman said Broner “inappropriately groped her.” Broner denied the accusation. He was taken to the Fulton County jail without incident and was released Tuesday on a $2,000 surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 28th.
According to Broner, it was simply a false accusation from a fan who was angered that he didn’t want to take a photo with her.
“I didn’t touch nobody,” Broner told Channel 2 Action News as he left the jail Tuesday afternoon. “She wanted to take a picture and I didn’t want to take a picture.”
This is not Broner’s first brush with the law. Last April, police pulled him over in an SUV riddled with bullet holes and arrested him on an open warrant for a 2014 public intoxication charge. He also plead not guilty to aggravated robbery and felonious assault when a man accused him of assaulting him outside Madison Bowl in Oakley and last year, a video surfaced of him knocking an unknown individual out on the strip of Las Vegas.
Broner’s criminal history also includes charges of robbery (2010 and 2007), aggravated robbery (2007), felonious assault (2007), gun charges (2007 and 2008), domestic violence (2008), intimidation of a witness (2008) and battery (2013).
His next scheduled fight is against Omar Figueroa Jr. on April 21.
