Chelsea have signed Athletic Bilbao’s goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to a world record £71 million to replace Thibaut Courtois.
With Courtois trying to force a move to Real Madrid, Chelsea took drastic action and agreed to pay Kepa’s buy-out clause ahead of Thursday’s Premier League transfer deadline.
This agreement has smashed the world-record fee of £66.8million that Liverpool paid for Alisson, making Kepa the most expensive keeper on the planet.
Kepa, 23, will fly to London in a private jet tomorrow and train with Chelsea on Thursday.
He could then make his debut in Chelsea’s Premier League opener with Huddersfield on Saturday.
