Floyd Mayweather is speaking out about the rumors of a possible boxing match against UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“I’m my own boss,” Floyd said “So, I can’t say what’s going on on Khabib’s end. But, on my end, we can make it happen.”
After Khabib beat Conor McGregor at UFC 229, he called out Mayweather. What wasn’t clear though is if he wanted to fight him in the ring or the octagon, but Floyd has made it clear that if he were to fight Khabib it would be on his turf.
“He called me out. So, he gotta come to my world,” Floyd said.
Nurmagomedov called out Mayweather on Saturday night saying: “in the jungle there can only be one king” after his stoppage win against McGregor at UFC 229.
Standing with the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Khabib said:
“Hey let’s go Floyd, we have to fight now.
“50 and 0 verses 27 and 0, two guys that never lost. Let’s go, why not.”
Mayweather expects a 9-figure payday and expects he’ll make $100 million MORE than when he fought Conor McGregor in 2017.
As for the location of the Mayweather vs. Khabib fight, Floyd says the only option is Vegas but Khabib, after having his $2 million fight purse withheld by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for his post fight brawl against Conor McGregor, said he won’t fight in Vegas.
The Russian wrote on Instagram: “@floydmayweather But no Vegas, they won’t pay my money.”
Mayweather beat McGregor in the tenth round last year, with the referee stepping in to call off the bout with McGregor still on his feet.
Khabib, who dropped McGregor with a huge right hand in the second round in the octagon, believes he is the king as Mayweather never managed to knock him down.
Stay tuned to see if Mayweather and Khabib can make it happen!
