The former five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather, says he has received some outrageous offers to return to the ring, but he’s not biting, he says he’s “out completely” right now.
While speaking to BBC, Mayweather said he was promised purses in the “nine figures” range.
“It’s been crazy numbers that have been thrown at me,” he said in a sit-down interview, wearing a beige leather jacket with a fur collar and a light brown TMT hat. “Of course, nine figures. I’ve had money thrown at me from many different countries.”
Floyd Mayweather reiterated that he was retired from boxing “as of right now” and that he is enjoying retired life.
“As of right now, I am out completely,” Mayweather said. “If I do get the itch to come back, it really won’t be for the money but I have to get paid. That’s why the nickname is Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.”
“Life is great. My family has a comfortable life from me going out there and taking chances and taking risks,” Mayweather said. “That was the ultimate goal. My kids will be going to college real soon.
“I am very happy that I was able to be a risk-taker. Roll the dice and take chances. Me being in the 12th grade, leaving school, leaving everything behind, leaving my family behind to go out there and do something that I love to do. It paid off in the long run.”
Mayweather also called out rumors that he’s had discussions with Manny Pacquiao’s team. He claims that he has not spoken to Michael Koncz, Pacquiao’s business advisor, or promoter Bob Arum.
“I haven’t spoken to Bob Arum,” he said. “I haven’t spoken to Michael Koncz.”
“And as far as people keep talking about Mayweather Promotions, I dictate and control what goes on with it,” Mayweather said. “Leonard Ellerbe is the CEO but everything has to go through me and I have to put the green light on any and everything.”
It seems like he hasn’t ruled out a return to the ring, I guess we’ll have to wait and see when that will happen.
