Former MLB infielders Luis Valbuena and Jose Castillo were killed in a car crash in Venezuela on Thursday.
Their club, Cardenales de Lara, confirmed the deaths of Valbuena and Castillo. Both played Thursday night prior to the accident.
At some point after the game, the vehicle they were in either hit a rock or swerved to avoid hitting a rock before going off the road. The car was driven by teammate Carlos Rivero. Rivero survived the crash.
