Montreal Canadiens forward Nicolas Deslauriers was taken to hospital as a precaution and for further testing following a fight that took place during Mondays’ preseason game against New Jersey Devils Brandon Baddock.
Deslauriers dropped the gloves with Baddock in the first period of the Canadiens’ 3-1 win on Monday. Baddock landed a hard right hook to Deslauriers’ face and then early in the second period he left the game. Claude Julien, the Montreal Canadiens head coach, would only say that Deslauriers had an “upper-body injury.”
The 27-year-old had 10 goals and 14 points in 58 games with the Canadiens last season and is now looking to cement a full-time spot with the team.
