Mayweather Open to Pacquiao Rematch

maymannyrematchIf your first thought following Saturday night’s Mayweather-Pacquiao fight was “rematch!”, you were definitely in the minority. Even though the fight went as anticipated by those who are familiar with Floyd’s fighting style, people were so turned off by what many consider to be a snooze-fest.

But as it turns out, Mayweather is willing to give Pacquiao a rematch. If Part 2 were to take place, there no way to imagine that the PPV buy would be $99.95 again this time because that wouldn’t fly again. Off the bat, that has to be lowered by at least $20 in order to get buy in from consumers.

Also, Mayweather has one fight left on his six-fight, $200M deal with Showtime. He has stated that would be he last fight and would bump his record to 49-0. But would he be compelled to call it quits at a nice round 50-0? Judging by his quote below, it sounds so, since Mayweather said he’d fight again in September of this year.

Floyd Mayweather told ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith in a text Tuesday that he would be open to a rematch after Manny Pacquiao recovers from shoulder surgery to repair a tear in his rotator cuff.

“I will fight him in a year after his surgery,” Mayweather texted Smith on the heels of his unanimous decision over Pacquiao in the richest fight ever.
