Mike Tomlin: Antonio Brown Will Be Punished

According to Mike Tomlin Antonio Brown will be punished for broadcasting his postgame speech on Facebook Live.

Tomlin told reporters that Brown will face discipline from the Steelers and the league for his actions. He also said that the language used in the video by himself and others was “regrettable” and apologized for setting a bad example.

According to ESPN, Antonio Brown violated the league’s social media policy, which “prohibits players and coaches from posting messages on any social media platform 90 minutes before kickoff through the completion of postgame locker room interviews.”

Brown’s teammates also spoke to the media about the video, and Ben Roethlisberger said he was “disappointed” in Brown.

“It’s an unfortunate situation that we’ve got to deal with right now,” Roethlisberger said on The Cook and Poni Show on Pittsburgh’s 93.7 The Fan. “That’s a sacred place where things are said and hugs and tears, and it’s kind of a special place. So a little disappointed with AB for that.”

Mike Mitchell agreed with coach Tomlin and said the video and the associated fallout won’t be a distraction for the Steelers.

“It’s the AFC championship,” Mitchell said, via ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “We’re not getting distracted by anything like that.”

Mike Tomlin has not yet had the opportunity to speak to Antonio Brown, but according to him, any team discipline applied will be handled privately and in house.
