The New England Patriots have signed veteran superstar Julian Edelman to a two-year contract extension worth $18 million that will keep him under contract through 2021.
Fresh off earning MVP honors in the Patriots’ latest Super Bowl victory, the 32-year-old Edelman also reportedly received an $8-million signing bonus along with $12 million in guaranteed money.
Edelman is one of Tom Brady’s most trusted targets and a top slot receivers in the NFL. He has played all 10 of his seasons in New England and has been one of the more consistent and productive mainstays in New England’s offense.
In 2019 he racked up 74 receptions for 850 yards and six touchdowns after returning from a four-game suspension to start the year. His 115 career receptions for 1,412 receiving yards in postseason both rank second only to Hall of Famer Jerry Rice.
