New York Jets Expected to Hire Adam Gase as Head Coach

According to ESPN, the New York Jets are expected to name Adam Gase as their head coach. Gase was recently dismissed by the Miami Dolphins.

The Jets interviewed numerous candidates for the position; newly-hired Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury, former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell as well as Baylor head coach Matt Rhule.

Besides being the Dolphins head coach for 3 seasons, Gase was also the offensive coordinator for the Bears in 2014, and for the Denver Broncos in 2013. He is a young but experienced coach with a reputation as an innovative playcaller. Most important for his new team, he is a quarterback guru, who received rave reviews for his work with players including Peyton Manning, Jay Cutler, and Tim Tebow — work that the Jets hope will continue with Darnold.

As for the rest of the league, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Dolphins are the only teams who have yet to name their head coach for the 2019 season.
