The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a trade with the Texas Rangers for Cole Hamels.

Pending an exchange of medical information, Texas will receive minor leaguers in return for Hamels while sending a significant amount of cash to Chicago to cover the pitcher’s salary.

Hamels is a highly decorated pitcher, winning a World Series in 2008, as well as being named the NLCS and World Series MVP, but he has been struggling for the past 5 years.

Over his 13 seasons in the MLB, Hamels owns a 152-111 record with a 3.43 ERA in 382 starts. He’s a four-time All-Star and has finished among the top 10 in Cy Young voting on four occasions.
