The Baltimore Ravens took a massive step toward restoring their top-ranked defense by agreeing to a four-year, $55-million contract with future hall of famer Earl Thomas. The deal includes $32 million guaranteed.
The six-time Pro Bowler had to be grimacing early in the week as he watched a bunch of safeties lacking his pedigree land huge free-agent contracts.
Thomas spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Seahawks, but had a falling out with them. He then fractured his leg early in the season, ending his campaign after just four games.
A six-time Pro Bowler, Thomas recorded 22 tackles and three interceptions in four games last year before the season-ending injury. He racked up 28 picks in 125 career games with the Seahawks and helped Seattle capture Super Bowl XLVIII.
