The Mets are 29-22 and 2 games back of the Nationals in the NL East. There’s still plenty of season to go, obviously, and they may very well make another strong run, like last year.
Despite their recent uptick in success, one of the team’s former greats think they can improve even more. Well, it’s not so much that he think they can improve, but rather, how. Darryl Strawberry thinks the team needs some more toughness. Maybe it’s the Roughned Odor – Jose Bautista fight that’s got him riled up, but he feels the Mets could benefit from getting into a couple of bar fights. Don’t think for a second Straw isn’t being serious here.
“I don’t know, maybe they need to get into a couple of fights. You find out then who’s tough and who’s not,” Strawberry said. “Maybe they need to go to the bar and drink and get into a couple of fights like we did. Then you realize what you really have.”
