David Ortiz’s career has come to an end.
The deadline for MLB teams to submit their roster is this Friday and the Red Sox have officially removed David Ortiz, making him an inactive player.
A few weeks ago the Red Sox exercised Ortiz’ $17,2 million option in order to prevent him from signing with a different team should he have changed his mind.
The 40-year-old Dominican retires from Major League Baseball after 20 seasons in the big leagues, in which he hit .286/.380/.552 with 541 home runs, 632 doubles, and 1,768 RBIs.
He was a 10-time All-Star, seven-time Silver Slugger winner, and three-time World Series champion.
