The Los Angeles Dodgers have hired Dave Roberts to replace Don Mattingly as the teams’ manager. Roberts, who is 43, spent three of his 10 big-league seasons playing for the Dodgers. Dave Roberts is the first minority manager in Dodgers history (his mother is Japanese and his father is African-American).
Multiple veterans on the team wanted Roberts to be their next manager. Although the Dodgers have decided on Dave Roberts and he has agreed to take the job, a baseball source said the two sides were still working out the final contract details as of Sunday night. Some sources expect Roberts to get a three-year deal with a fourth-year option.
