Allen was looking for an opportunity that would still allow him to close games, coming off a season in which he collected 27 saves and had a 4.70 ERA for the Cleveland Indians.
The Angels will now be tasked with getting him back to form. When healthy, Allen is capable of putting up eye-popping strikeout totals. If he can get his command under control in 2019, the Angels will have one of the league’s best weapons anchoring their bullpen.
The 30-year-old right-hander has 149 career saves over seven seasons in the Major Leagues.
