Don Mattingly wasn’t unemployed for very long. Both he and the Dodgers parted ways about a week ago, but he is already back at work. Don Mattingly will be their eighth manager since 2010.
Don Mattingly, as expected, agreed to a four-year contract to replace Dan Jennings, who was reassigned to the front office but instructed not to return to work until he has more conversations with Loria.
Mattingly, 54, and the Dodgers parted ways recently after he led the team to three consecutive National League West titles but no World Series appearances. He won 55.1 percent of his regular season games in five years in Los Angeles (446-363) but was 8-11 in postseason.
