San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera has been suspended for 50 games after testing positive for a PED. The suspension will last for the rest of the season.
Cabrera released a statement:
“My positive test was the result of my use of a substance I should not have used. I accept my suspension under the Joint Drug Program and will try to move on with my life. I am deeply sorry for my mistake and I apologize to my teammates, to the San Francisco Giants organization and to the fans for letting them down.”
Cabrera has a .906 OPS this season after setting a career-high .809 OPS last season. Also, the year before that, Cabrera had a .671 OPS. What a significant jump. In fact, it’s so significant that it’s pretty suspicious.
This should put an asterisk on the NL having home-field advantage in the World Series, right?
