The San Diego Padres’ roster benefited from some improvements this past offseason, but that hasn’t necessarily been reflected in the teams’s record as they are under .500. Whenever this is the case, the manager is the one to go because you can’t fire the players. The Padres are 32-33 and 6 games back of first place in the NL West.
The club will immediately begin the formal search for an Interim Manager for the remainder of the 2015 season. Until that process has concluded, Bench Coach Dave Roberts will serve as the Manager beginning with tonight’s game against Oakland.
