According to sources, Prince Fielder, first baseman for the Texas Rangers will more than likely be forced to retire after undergoing a second neck surgery within 27 months.

Prior to the surgeries, Fielder was a consistent player. From 2006 to 2013, Prince Fielder played in 1,283 of a possible 1,296 regular-season games (162 games in 4 seasons).

He underwent the first neck surgery in May 2014 and missed the rest of that season. He returned in time for the 2015 season and hit .305 to go along with 23 home runs and 98 RBI. His second surgery took place on July 29th.

Fielder was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 1st round (7th pick) of the 2002 draft. He was traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Texas Rangers for Ian Kinsler in November 2013.

The Texas Rangers have scheduled a press conference for sometime tomorrow.
