Prince Fielder has appeared in 89 games for the Texas Rangers this season. And in those 89 contests, he has managed to hit a paltry .212 with just 8 HRs and 44 RBIs. But that can’t solely be blamed on perceived old age, or being past his prime. He hasn’t been himself largely due to a bad neck.
The 32-year-old will have to undergo season-ending neck surgery for the 1st place Rangers. It will interesting to see how they overcome this.
Fielder got a second opinion Monday, and general manager Jon Daniels says Dr. Drew Dossett recommended surgery. That was the same as Dr. Robert Watkins in Los Angeles said last week after an MRI showed a herniation between Fielder’s C4 and C5 disks.
