Red Sox Suspend Alfredo Aceves For Three Games

August 26, 2012 – Evan Stambaugh

The Red Sox announced Saturday that they have suspended reliever Alfredo Aceves for three games because of “conduct detrimental to the team.”

Aceves was livid after Friday night’s win, a game in which Andrew Bailey got the four-out save. Aceves reportedly had a heated discussion with Bobby Valentine after the game and slammed the door going in and out of Bobby-V’s office.

Bobby-V didn’t say the exact reason why Aceves was suspended, but he did say that “it might have had something to do with” Bailey getting the save opportunity instead of Aceves. Valentine also said there wasn’t necessarily an argument between him and Aceves.

However, Valentine was “a little bit disappointed” and said that “you’ve just got to know the difference between right and wrong.”
