The term “baseball money” is an actual thing, and players realize this. They see that their sport throws around money in quantities for larger than any other sport and guys want to cash in. Rightfully so.
The Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista is apparently one of those guys. The 35-year-old slugger is reportedly looking for a 5-year, $150 million deal from Toronto. His production is hard to argue against, but his age certainly is.
However, in Jose’s defense, he denies this rumor of that salary demand. But usually, where there’s smoke, fire is probably around.
Jose Bautista’s “number” to agree to an extension with the Toronto Blue Jays is $150 million in a five-year deal, TSN reported Tuesday, citing two sources familiar with the situation.
Bautista denied the report, telling Sportsnet that those contract demands were “false.”
