According to Peter Gammons, the Detroit Tigers have traded Jacob Turner, Rob Brantly of the Toledo Mud Hens, prospect Brian Flynn, and a compensation pick. In the trade, they acquired Omar Infante, Anibal Sanchez, and a compensation balance pick from the Marlins.
Interesting. The Tigers needed a second baseman and a starting pitcher, and they got exactly what they wanted. Although Infante and Sanchez are average, they are better than Ryan Raburn, an occasional second baseman, and Jacob Turner. Raburn is considered one of the worst major league players and Turner was called up a couple weeks ago. He was replacing 5th starter Drew Smyly, who is on the DL. With Sanchez coming up, it looks like Smyly will rehab and stay with the Toledo Mud Hens until the September call-ups occur.
