A Dreadful but Historical Fight: Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor

McGregor vs. Mayweather

Undoubtedly, even before I start making any further assumptions, Conor McGregor, the UFC lightweight champion has no chance of winning a boxing match against the renowned Floyd Mayweather Jr. Let’s face it, Mayweather is an undefeated boxing legend in the last two decades, in which he has overpowered best of the best boxers internationally. He has spent a lifetime training his left arm as well, which is also one of McGregor’s formidable tools that would make betting predictions for the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight challenging.

In retrospect, retired boxer Arturo Gatti made it to the Hall of Fame after outclassing Micky Ward. However, Mayweather pounced on his head like a suspended ball when he hopelessly tried to add more titles to his numerous weight classes, after which the referee had to stop the fight 9n the ninth round. His lifelong devotion to become an elite competitor just faded away before fans could enjoy the 12 rounds.

Mayweather is an overwhelming favorite compared McGregor, who has never stepped in the ring despite spending his career in the UFC’s Octagon. Without a doubt, McGregor will be outclassed because I believe Floyd is boxing’s Golden State Warriors, while McGregor is a boxing amateur. Even though Conor can throw heavy punches in the octagon, Floyd gas better fistic power in the ring, in addition to his verbal dexterity, which he regularly uses to belittle his boastful opponents.

McGregor may lack the skills and experience that Floyd has; however, the Irishman has been supernaturally compared to several verbose boxers, such as Muhammad Ali, which would make the August 8 bout the most talked about in the contemporary world. In the UFC, McGregor has always verbally overpowered his opponents by drawing the media towards him, which has promoted his career to date.

However, Mayweather in conjunction with HBO, are the modern-day pioneers of the trendsetting 24/7 series. The boxer has used the reality television to further promote his “money” personality, which many fans love unconditionally. Evidently, McGregor has had a hard time with his opponent’s fans who mock his posts every time he posts a showy new purchase on social media.

The best part of all this is to wait and see how the master will discipline the student in less than two months’ time.

On the other hand, McGregor has risen to fame through calculated miracles because approximately a decade ago, he was nowhere near becoming a UFC favorite. The Irishman remains a champion in two weight calluses in the UFC, which has made him pocket enough money to live a decent life and he will make more zeroes that could feed many of his future generations.

The upcoming bout will be historical because it brings together two retiring champions. The 40-year-old Mayweather only needs one win to break the record set by Rocky Marciano, who bowed out of his boxing career with a 50-0 record, while McGregor has also spoke about taking a rest to preserve his health. The media and fans will have a difficult choice to make this time round, but be rest assured that the social media would flood with a wide range of grumpy tweets and posts regarding fight, while some will relax and enjoy.
