Jon Jones Hints At An April Return

Former UFC light heavyweight Champion Jon Jones who was recently reinstated is anxious to get back in the Octagon to reclaim the title he never lost. There is no official word on a return date but we can expect an immediate title shot against Daniel Cormier.

According to Jon Jones’ Instagram account it seems like he has a specific event in mind for his comeback.

The April 23rd date that Jon Jones is hinting at is quite telling as it correlates with UFC 198 that is scheduled to take place at Madison Square Garden unless the sport is not legalized before then. If New York still hasn’t sanctioned mixed martial arts by April 23rd the event will still take place but it will be moved to a different location.

This date has long been rumored to be Jon Jones’ return to action date, but current champion Daniel Cormier has stated numerous times that the one place he didn’t want the rematch to happen is New York. Jones is from New York and Cormier feels that it would be a disadvantage to fight Jones in ‘his own backyard.’

The UFC has yet to make an announcement regarding the Jones, Cormier rematch or the 2016 schedule.

Jon Jones’ last fight took place back in January when he defeated Daniel Cormier, but in April he was suspended following a hit-and-run and was stripped of his belt and title.
