Tiger Woods hasn’t played a competitive golf since August of last year, and that streak will not come to an end during the U.S. Open. Woods has announced that he will skip the tournament that is set to begin next week. He’s still recovering from two back surgeries in fall of 2015, and still isn’t in golf form.
“While I continue to work hard on getting healthy, I am not physically ready to play in this year’s U.S. Open and the Quicken Loans National,” Woods wrote on his website. “I am making progress, but I’m not yet ready for tournament competition.”
At the age of 40, he’s not terribly old for a golfer, but he’s been operated on as much as a football player. Makes you wonder how much he even has left when healthy. The young crop of golfers on the rise has made him all but an after thought over the past few years and that trend is likely to continue.
