Byron Scott categorizes his ousting as Lakers head coach as surprising. Probably almost as surprising as his replacement, Luke Walton.
Scott was only on the job for two seasons, but apparently didn’t impress enough people. It’s unfortunate that he was let go so soon, because next season the Lakers will be without Kobe Bryant, will have more cap space and the overall salary cap will go up. Basically, fundamentally, he would’ve been in a better position to succeed.
But if he has it his way, that was not his last coaching stop. He hopes to be back on the sidelines again with another NBA team.
“Do I want to coach back again in the NBA? Absolutely,” Scott told Rich Eisen on the Rich Eisen Show Thursday. “Because No. 1 I think I’m a great coach and I can get the job done and I want an opportunity at it.”
