Ah yes, the NBA was officially back last night and we were treated to the King picking up right where he left off last season with a triple-double and a dominating victory over the Knicks. Damian Lillard and Joe Johnson had an “anything you can do I can do better” battle, and the Spurs absolutely trounced the Warriors in Kevin Durant’s debut.
We also were treated to some top notch jokes from the man, the myth, the legend, Gregg Popovich, as he had a funny take on Tim Duncan’s retirement and whether he gives any advice to Steve Kerr.
Classic Gregg Popovich.

Popovich refuses to accept Duncan’s retirement (why would he) and apparently is fining him until he decides to show up. Who knew Duncan’s retirement was really just a contract holdout? In all seriousness, Coach Pop is one of the funniest and most engaging coaches in professional sports when he wants to be, and he was in a pretty jolly mood as his team ran the “Super Team” Warriors off the floor Tuesday night.
He also shared some pretty passionate and shocking thoughts about Warriors Head Coach and former Spur Steve Kerr when asked if he ever gives Kerr any advice…
Oh Gregg Popovich,

Popovich’s sarcasm and dry humor is something that truly needs to be appreciated, along with the fact that he is the best coach the NBA has ever seen.
Don’t ever change Gregg Popovich, who am I kidding, I know you won’t and that is a gift to us all.
