Knicks Sign Michael Beasley

Knicks Sign Michael Beasley

The Knicks had the No. 1 pick of the 2008 NBA Draft class last year in Derrick Rose, and now they have decided to sign the No. 2 pick of the 2008 draft Michael Beasley.

Beasley is 28 now and has been a pretty huge disappointment in his NBA career thus far. After showing some promise in Miami and Minnesota and after being out of the NBA altogether for a time in China, he has played his way back into the league and had a mostly successful stint with the Milwaukee Bucks last season.

While this signing feels odd for a Knicks team that is apparently trying to go young and move on from the dysfunction that has clouded them for the past 15 years or so, Beasley averaged 9.4 rebounds and 3.4 rebounds on 53% shooting from the field and 42% from three last season in 56 games, definitely worthy of garnering an NBA contract this season.

Could he fill the role potentially left void by Carmelo Anthony if dealt this off-season?

I have never been a big Michael Beasley fan for a number of reasons, but there is a chance this could be a good value signing for the Knicks at the minimum this season.
