According to TMZ, Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor was involved in a street fight in Boston on Wednesday night.
A video surfaced earlier that showed Okafor verbally sparring with several individuals. A scuffle broke out, and Okafor can be seen punching a man hard in the face outside a bar in Boston. The altercation happened after Okafor and the 76ers lost to the Celtics.
A source close to Okafor, who was around the corner when it happened, claims that the individuals were talking smack:
‘The 76ers suck and you guys are all losers. You’ll never win a game.’
“I think the guy was just talking s—. Saying the Sixers suck.”
A rep for Jahlil said he was being heckled from the moment he left the club and felt threatened because people swarmed him on the street. He says he was with a teammate and that someone got physical with his teammate so he did what he felt needed to be done to protect himself and his friend.
Here is a video obtained by TMZ of the incident:
The 76ers have since released a statement stating that they are aware of the incident and are currently working to gather additional information. No further comments will be made until then.
