As per ESPN, Adrian Peterson is set to join the New Orleans Saints and will sign a two-year $7 million contract.
“I am excited to be joining the New Orleans Saints. I’m really looking forward to this opportunity. Most importantly, I chose this team because it just felt right within my spirit. Additionally, my wife and family added their confirmation with the same feelings. On offense, it goes without saying that the Saints are really solid behind Drew Brees. I feel like my skill set can make them even more dominant as a unit.”
The addition of Peterson will leave Saints fans wondering who will carry the larger load in 2017, Ingram or him. Early indications are that Ingram will remain the starter with Peterson taking over the Tim Hightower role on early-down runs, third-and-shorts, and goal-line situations.
Adrien Peterson was the Minnesota Vikings’ all-time leader in rushing with 11,747 yards in 10 seasons and now he won’t have to wait too long to face his former team as the Vikings will host the Saints in the first Monday Night Football game of the 2017 season.
