It will be strange to see Adrian Peterson in a uniform that isn’t that of the Minnesota Vikings, but all good things must come to an end. The team has decided to move on from the soon-to-be 31-year-old running back, but AP no doubt still wants to play. Above all, he has always seemed very conscious of his place in history and probably still wants to etch his name in the record books.
One team that has surfaced as a potential suitor is the New England Patriots, and this has the interest of Peterson. But a few things would need to be recognized by AP. For starters, he’d have to take considerably less money than he’s use to. Also, the Patriots are not a one-back team. Belichick likes the change of pace look, and Peterson has always been the featured back.
If the Patriots were able to sign Peterson for short money, it would be a low risk, high reward move for the team. With LeGarrette Blount’s future in New England up in the air, the Patriots could be looking to acquire a power back to complement James White and Dion Lewis.
