The Pittsburgh Steelers have suffered a setback.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has torn his meniscus in his left knee and will undergo surgery on Monday.
Roethlisberger played through pain in the second half of Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins after missing the majority of the second quarter with the injury. He said he “felt something funny” in his knee after the game.
The team will have a better idea as to his expected return date once he goes under the knife. If the injury ends up necessitating a full repair, he would be out indefinitely. If it’s merely a cleanup, then there is a chance he could miss just the one game.
