Here is one guy not scared about the drop in talent at the wide out position with the departure of long time WR Andre Johnson. Texans will need all the confidence they can get this season. No. 80 left the Texans after 12 very successful years with the team, but now they will be looking for another man to step up.
WR Deandre Hopkins had a breakout season during his sophomore campaign going for 76 catches, 1210 yards, and 6 touchdowns. It is most certainly not an easy job to catch passes from quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick even though he had a good season, but now Hopkins has to wait to see who will win the job between Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett or Tom Savage. Not great choices for anyone to have.
Deandre is excited and ready however:
My motto is I’m going to go out and work every day, no matter who is here. It’s a mentality that I always played with since I’ve been playing football.
Texans will need their leaders to step up now more than ever. They can’t keep counting on RB Arian Foster, and DE JJ. Watt to carry the load on both sides of the field and miss the playoffs by a hair once more. Hopkins seems to be ready for the challenge.
