Dez Bryant more or less threatened the Dallas Cowboys into the long-term deal he was looking for. On Monday, Dez tweeted that he’d miss games if no deal was met by today and there’s no doubt that he was serious. Well today, he got what he was looking for and deserved.
Dez and Dallas came to terms on a 5-year, $70 million deal with $40+ million guaranteed. Sometimes NFL contractual negotiations can be a staring contest and the Cowboys blinked first.
Bryant signed a five-year contract Wednesday, the final day players bearing the franchise tag could ink a multi-year deal before 2016.
It is worth $70 million with $45 million guaranteed, a person familiar with the situation told USA TODAY Sports’ Jarrett Bell. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Cowboys did not reveal the deal’s financial terms.
