Greg Hardy, Dallas Cowboys’ defensive end, got into an altercation with special teams coach during Sunday’s game against the New York Giants. The incident appears to have escalated to shoves, which later sparked teammate Dez Bryant to get involved.
A video has emerged of the altercation showing Greg Hardy confronting the Cowboys special teams coach after giving up a 100-yard kickoff return. In the video you can see Greg Hardy slapping the coach’s clipboard out of his hands and then getting into a shoving match with him. This resulted in a heated argument with teammate Dez Bryant.
Rich Bisaccia, like everyone else connected to the team, downplayed the situation after the game, saying it was a non issue.
“He wanted to get in there and kind of get after some of the guys a little bit, maybe get them fired up,” Bisaccia said, according to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. “It was just not the right time. It’s really not an issue. I just had to communicate what we were going to do next on the return, so I just really wanted him to move on so we could get going.”
After the game, owner Jerry Jones called Greg Hardy a leader. He said he welcomed the kind of passion that was exhibited. It’s unclear whether or not Jones had seen the actual footage of the incident.
Greg Hardy has a reputation for being a volatile player. This incident will not help Hardy who already has a serious image problem within the league after horrific details emerged from his 2014 arrest for domestic violence, for which he was given a four-game suspension to start the season. Many are condemning his actions.
The Dallas Cowboys should suspend Greg Hardy, not enable him says Ian O'Connor. https://t.co/3VPBPAtGTj

Greg Hardy continues to show the disgusting character he is. The quicker he's out of the league the better. https://t.co/sQGvJfwJir

Domestic violence. Suspension. Sideline altercation. Stonewalling media. And Jerry Jones calls #GregHardy a "leader."
