Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots reportedly needs back surgery.
According to Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News, Gronkowski suffered a ruptured disk in a game against the Seattle Seahawks earlier this year. His injury is worse than initially believed and he is expected to have surgery on Friday and miss up to eight weeks.

With five weeks left to play, Gronkowski will certainly miss the rest of the regular season. It’s possible he could return late in the postseason, but the Patriots will have to advance without him.
