Being a two-sport athlete certainly isn’t new. Many guys thrive in a couple of sports in college, then chose one as their pro career appears on the horizon. Jameis Winston is best known for his decorated career as a quarterback at Florida State, but let’s not forget that he’s a solid baseball player as well.
But the Bucs don’t care. They aren’t interested in Winston’s skills on the diamond. In fact, there’s a “no baseball” clause written into his contract with Tampa Bay.
The No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft won’t be able to play professional baseball, even if he wanted to, according to Peter King of the Monday Morning Quarterback. According to King, there’s a clause in Winston’s contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prohibiting the former Florida State closer from playing professional baseball.
