There is nothing wrong with a little bit of fun over the holiday weekend, but it seems New York Giants star defensive lineman took it a little bit too far. Jason Pierre-Paul was in a really bad accident involving fireworks during his fourth of July celebration.
Though the exact nature and extent of JPP’s injury isn’t fully known yet, it is believed that his hand was injured pretty badly. There were plenty rumors that his season, and quite possibly his career might be in doubt with the injury being believed to have taken some fingers or parts of his hands completely off. Though not certain at all, a hand injury could definitely cost Pierre-Paul to miss an extended period of time, specially for a defensive lineman that makes a living of exploding of the ends, and using his size to block passes down. I would expect JPP to suit up with a cast in his hand at the very least, not unlike anything we haven’t seen before from the tough competitors in the league.
It is now believed that JPP will be ok at the end of the day, but his injury could cost him greatly. He is still unsigned with the Giants but due to make $14.3 million from signing his contract tender, if the Giants decide to rescind that contract, they would save all that money and make Pierre-Paul an unrestricted free agent. The New York Giants cannot afford to lose JPP as he is the best piece on a weak defense playing in one of the toughest divisions in football. Eli Manning will need some help from his defense if the Giants are to succeed at both ends. It would certainly be more exciting to watch if someone other than Odell Beckham Jr. made some highlight plays.
