There is a reason why Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon hasn’t yet been reinstated.
According to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports, Gordon reportedly failed another NFL-administered drug test in March. He tested positive for marijuana and dilute. Gordon missed the entire 2015 season for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.
This does not necessarily mean that Gordon will miss yet another season. Gordon applied for reinstatement back in February, but this latest development will definitely not help his case.
Roger Goodell has made it clear the standard would be high for reinstatement. At the end of the NFL league meeting last month, Goodell said he still had to gather more information and “decide what the next appropriate step is.” At that moment he surely knew that Gordon had failed his latest drug test.
“When these things happen, it’s about trying to avoid them in the future,” Goodell said, adding: “I’m hopeful that Josh understands that he’s going to have to conduct himself differently going forward to be a member of the NFL and to be representing the Cleveland Browns or any team in the NFL.”
Josh Gordon has been spotted with former Browns teammate Johnny Manziel lately and is reportedly living with him. Manziel has had his fair share of issues with the league lately and that could possibly be another factor that would make Roger Goodell reluctant to reinstate Gordon.
