On Sunday, a report emerged that Peyton Manning did not want to serve as a backup quarterback to Brock Osweiler once he returned to full health. The Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning quickly came out and refuted the report.
Peyton has never told Gary or myself that he doesn't want to be the backup. Any report or rumor that suggests otherwise is incorrect!!

As for Manning, he called the report “bullshit and insulting”. According to Jeff Legwold of ESPN, Manning was visibly upset:
For the record and to clarify Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning said the report that offered he had told the Broncos he didn’t want to be the backup was “bullsh-t and insulting.” He was talking about the report, was emphatic and obviously upset about it.
Additional reports confirmed Manning’s comments.

The Denver Broncos suffered a 34-27 loss against the Steelers on Sunday after leading 27-10. Given their struggles it wouldn’t be surprising to see them turn to Peyton Manning as early as next week.
