Oakland Raiders ‘Strongly Considering’ Acquiring Marshawn Lynch

As per ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson, the Oakland Raiders are “strongly considering” acquiring retired running back Marshawn Lynch from the Seattle Seahawks either by way of a trade or by his release.

Marshawn Lynch, who is originally from Oakland, retired from the NFL last year, but has been considering the possibility of making a return. Playing for his hometown team would definitely be an incentive and could influence his decision.

Should the Raiders acquire him he would most certainly be favored to step in for free-agent departee Latavius Murray.

In his nine-year career, Lynch started 114 games and carried the ball 2,144 times for 9,112 yards and 74 touchdowns (4.3 yards per carry). He was among the most productive running backs in the league during his time with the Seahawks. During his five seasons in Seattle, Lynch was third in rushing yards (5,774), second in first downs (294) and first in rushing touchdowns. His 51 touchdowns surpassed Peterson’s second-place total by six.
