Robert Griffin III’s days as QB of the Redskins appears to be numbered. Although head coach Jay Gruden has already stated RG3 would be the starting QB next year, the team attended Marcus Mariota’s Pro Day, so something doesn’t add up.
After next season the Redskins has tough financial decisions to consider. They will be faced with whether or not to pick up Griffin’s option for the next season which would pay him $16 million. At this point, that seems highly unlikely but it doesn’t sound like Griffin is losing sleep over it.
“I wouldn’t be bummed,” Griffin said. “Either way, we’re going out there to prove it this upcoming year — not next year. I just want to win. I want to win games and have fun doing it. The rest will take care of itself. They can pick up the option — or they can decide not to pick up the option. It’ll work out either way. I’m focused on this year.”
