Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers were on the doorstep of another Super Bowl Appearance, but they failed to show up in the AFC Championship Game vs the Patriots. They were manhandled from the very beginning. And after 13 seasons, Roethlisberger is considering hanging it up.
The 34-year-old quarterback didn’t rule out retirement during a radio interview on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh. If he were, this would come as a shock, as he hasn’t really given any indication that this was a thought. He’s still playing at a high level, the Pittsburgh is certainly good enough to contend next season.
But then again, he’s routinely one of the most banged up QBs each year, so perhaps he’s thinking of longterm health.
“I’m gonna take this offseason to evaluate, to consider all options, to consider health and family and things like that and just kind of take some time away to evaluate next season — if there’s gonna be a next season.”
Roethlisberger added, “I think at [this] point in my career, at my age, that’s the prudent and smart thing to do every year.
