Starting QBs in the NFL are so scarce that it really doesn’t take much for a guy to get a long-term deal. In the case of Brock Osweiler, you just need to play decent ball while Peyton Manning was injured for a few games. Or if you’re Matt Flynn, you just need one great game.
Osweiler is headed to Houston on a 4-year, $72 million deal. He’ll most likely walk right into the starting role for the Texans. If you’re John Elway and the Broncos, is not hard to understand why they essentially let Osweiler walk. Brock started all of 7 games, and the demand was just too high.
The NFL Network first reported Osweiler’s decision to jump to Houston from the defending Super Bowl champion Broncos. The decision comes two days after Manning retired from the Broncos.
