Victor Cruz’s ascension into superstardom in New York was as sudden as him ultimate departure. Cruz was released by the Giants a few days ago, after a myriad of lower body injuries claimed his past few seasons. And with Odell Beckham, Jr. turning into a star in his own right, many forgot about Cruz.
But in the time that he did play for the Giants last season, Cruz did still appear to have something left in the tank. We saw the salsa dance broken out on a few occasions as he still showed glimpses of greatness. Those flashes still interest some teams around the league, as Cruz is scheduled to meet with the Carolina Panthers.
Cruz, 30, visited the Carolina Panthers and general manager Dave Gettleman on Monday, a league source told the Charlotte Observer.
Cruz and Gettleman go back to the latter’s days in New York, when Gettleman was the Giants’ pro personnel director when the team signed Cruz as an undrafted free agent in 2010.
