Former NFL quarterback Vince Young was arrested early Monday morning in Austin on suspicion of driving while under the influence.
Young’s vehicle was stopped just after midnight at which time he was taken into custody. He has been charged with a single count of DWI and was transported to Travis County Jail.
His bail was set at $2,000 which he posted. As of 10:45 am he was no longer in custody.
According to a police report obtained by Statesman.com,the arresting officer noticed that Vince Young smelled of alcohol. His speech was slurred and he was off balance and swaying during the field sobriety test. Young admitted to the officer that he had drank three or four bottles of beer at the hotel before driving.
Young retired from the NFL in 2014 and is now a diversity and community engagement officer at UT. He has also been employed by Longhorn Network as an analyst for Texas GameDay since 2014.
