Vancouver Rookie Brock Boeser was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons after crashing into the boards while the bench door was open.
Boeser collided with Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck and took an awkward fall, appearing to hit his back on the Canucks’ open bench door. He seemed to smash his lower back off the open gate and immediately grabbed his back.

He stayed down for several moments before eventually making his way to the bench. The rookie could not seem to put any weight on his left leg and had to be assisted into the dressing room by a trainer. He was stretchered out of the arena and taken to the hospital by ambulance post-game.

“He has gone to the hospital for precautionary reasons,” said Canucks coach Travis Green. “He goes to make a hit and falls awkwardly into the boards and I think he nipped the open gate on the (line) change.
“You’re concerned no matter what when a player is injured. I don’t want to make a comment and I hope he’s alright and our guys feel like it’s a bruise.”
The Canucks are scheduled to hold an off-ice workout on Tuesday, where they are expected to provide an update on Boeser.
