Olivier Marcotte, a 21-year-old Quebec junior hockey player, was arrested while still on the ice during a game last Sunday. Two officers handcuffed Marcotte after he allegedly spit in the face of a referee. Before he could throw a punch, he was pulled to the ice while officials sat on him waiting for police officers to arrive.
He was released from police custody later that night.

According to police no complaint has been filed against the player therefore no further action from the police is required.
The President of the Junior AA league did not wish to comment about the incident but did say that the league does not condone spitting at a referee.
Marcotte is in his final year of Junior AA eligibility.
